The pandemic is changing what people say they want with their new home. The Florida lifestyle, with additional outdoor living space, is of course high on many buyer's lists. I'm seeing a lot of my clients looking for outdoor kitchens, covered screened lanai's, and private pools.
While setting up a MLS search alert for a client looking for a newer pool home in the Lakewood Ranch area, I noticed something startling:
In Lakewood Ranch zip codes (34202, 34211)
Single family home built since 2018
Price range $350,000-$500,000
Available homes 41
Available homes with private pools: 0
You can still have a good condition newer home, but you may have to add a pool later. Adding a pool ranges from $30,000-$60,000.
If you are buying a new construction home, my advice would be to include a pool or extended lanai with your purchase.
